Ridership on the Chicago Transit Authority was down a bit last year but was higher than had been predicted.

The number of rides dropped by a little less than 1 percent.

Approximately 210 million passengers rode CTA trains last year, which is an increase of 4 percent from 2009.

Trip on CTA buses, however, decreased to 306 million.

Over the past decade, the CTA says ridership has grown almost 8 percent.
