Former Chicago Streets and Sanitation commissioner Al Sanchez was sentenced to 30 months in prison Thursday. He was convicted last summer on fraud charges.

Prosecutors said he was involved in a hiring scheme that involving giving city jobs to people with clout.

During the sentencing, his lawyer argued that Sanchez had a plan that would have kept Lake Shore Drive open this week. And Sanchez told the judge he's tried to live a "stand-up kind of life."
