Chicago firefighters will get a 2-percent pay raise and several thousand dollars in back pay under a new contract with the city.

The deal is retroactive to 2007.

It gives the city more flexibility in work rules, which should cut overtime costs?but Chicago may have to borrow $94 million to pay for the contract.

The deal was approved by the firefighters union and runs through June 2012.
