Police in the western suburbs are investigating the case of the stolen yellow rubber ducks that are used for a charity in Yorkville.

The toy ducks float down the Chicago River each summer for an annual fundraiser. The Yorkville Citizens Police Academy planned to use them later this year. Each one is sold for a few dollars. They are pulled from the water and the person who bought the duck can win raffle prizes.

Investigators say about 2,500 ducks were stolen sometime this week.
