The Guardian Angels are stepping up patrols after Chicago warned riders of a South Side CTA bus route to watch their purses.

Police say two young men have been taking bus riders' bags. The suspects approach women riding the 55th Street-Garfield bus between the Red Line and the Green Line CTA stations, police said.

On Tuesday, the Guardian Angels released a statement that the Chicago crew will ride the 55th Street CTA buses between the two stations and make citizens arrests if they see crimes committed on the bus.

Police are asking the public to call with any information about the crimes.
