BMW will test an all-electric 1 Series Coupe called the Active E that will run solely on electricity and travel about 100 miles on a single charge. BMW will lease 700 Active Es to drivers in U.S. coastal cities starting this fall. If the test is successful, BMW will then introduce a lightweight all-electric car in 2013 called the Eye 3.
