USPS shutting down South Side post office

The U.S. Postal Service is closing a South Side Post office because of what they are calling an "extraordinary decline" in mail volume.

The Finance Station N Post Office in the 2100-block of East 71st Street will close on May 13.

The post office is in the city's South Shore community.

Two employees will be reassigned to other locations.

The Postal Service says it has seen a decline of nearly 26 billion pieces of mail in the past year.
