25th anniversary of Chicago Vietnam vets parade

On Saturday night, vets and their families attended a Heroes' Banquet Dinner at the Palmer House Hilton. Several Medal of Honor recipients were there.

Attendees were marking the 25th anniversary of the Chicago Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade.

Gov. Pat Quinn thanked them for their service: "This is a debt that can never be repaid. the men and women who answer the call to duty, who go forward in the face of danger and defend our democracy."

Earlier on Saturday, speakers from different divisions in the military addressed a crowd at Navy Pier.The event included a changing of the guard ceremony to honor the men and women currently serving in the military.

On Sunday, an interfaith service at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza was planned, in addition to a concert in Millennium Park with Dennis de Young.
