City wants to get tough on disabled parking scofflaws

The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities wants the city to add disabled parking scams to offenses punished by vehicle impoundment.

The towing penalty would apply to drivers -- without disabilities -- who fraudulently obtain placards to park for free at Chicago meters and in designated places.

The city could also increase fines for people who violate the law.
