Historically, Christmas is one of the biggest digital download days on the calendar for companies such as Amazon, Apple and Google.
Mobile analytics firm Flurry says the surge is brought on by consumers racing to download apps and digital content on their newly acquired devices. More than 6.8 million new devices were activated on Christmas Day alone.
