A Cook County inmate is back in custody Monday after a short-lived escape of approximately six hours.

Authorities think Jamall Allen, 20, scaled a barbed-wire fence Sunday and escaped from boot camp, which is a minimum-security option for non-violent offenders.

Sheriff's officials found Allen about five miles away.

He was 72 days from being released.

Charges related to the escape are pending.
