Early tax filers should expect delay on refunds

If you filed your federal tax return early this year, you'll have to wait longer than expected if you're getting a refund.

The delay is estimated to be one week and limited to taxpayers whose returns were filed before January 26.

A spokesperson for the IRS says the delay is caused by new safeguards installed in IRS computer systems to prevent refund fraud.
