Teen pregnancy, abortion rates drop to record low

The latest numbers show the overall teen pregnancy and abortion rates have fallen to the lowest level since at least 1972.

But the study from The Guttmacher Institute also finds disparities among racial and ethnic groups continue.

Rates for African-American and hispanic Teens were two to four times higher.

The Guttmacher Group is linking the drop to increased contraceptive use by teens of both genders and reduced sexual activity.
