Super Jake Red Cape Gala

February 18, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Jake Robert Widman lost his battle with neuroblastoma, a rare and deadly form of pediatric cancer, in 2005 at the age of 4. But his parents and doctors say he fought cancer like a true superhero, complete with a cape!

In Jake's memory, the "Super Jake Foundation" (link: www.thesuperjakefoundation.org) Red Cape Gala is on February 25.

It raises money for pediatric cancer research and gives grants to local children and hospitals. Organizers are encouraging those who attend to make the gala fun and wear a hint of red, since the organization is themed around super heroes. Matt Widman, Jake's dad and president and founder of The Super Jake Foundation, and Ann Fahey-Widman, Jake's mom and founder of The Super Jake Foundation, joined us in our ABC7 studio to tell us about the event and the foundation.
