According to the utility, incidents are on the rise of scam artists impersonating ComEd workers. In many cases, the scammers are luring people into disclosing credit card information or are stealing from them.
"If they ever have any doubt of somebody coming to their door, they should ask to see a ComEd ID. All of our employees will have a ComEd ID," said a company spokesperson.
Anyone victimized by a ComEd impersonator should call the police.
