Police shoot man in Chatham neighborhood

Chicago police shot and injured a man in the city's South Side Chatham neighborhood after, police say, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call.

The shooting happened at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday in the 9300-block of South Vernon.

According to a spokesperson for the police union, officers responding to the call found the man in a backyard with a gun.

The man allegedly pointed the gun at officers, who then shot him.

The man's injuries reportedly are not life-threatening.
