Students at a southwest suburban middle school rally around a fellow student who was struck by a car after leaving a school play.

Twelve-year old Alex Fitzgerald is hospitalized in critical condition.

The seventh grader attends Jack Hille Middle School in Oak Forest.

Police say Fitzgerald was leaving the school Friday night when he was hit on a marked crosswalk in the 5800 block of 151st St.

Students took a group photo wearing blue, the color worn by Fitzgerald's favorite football team, the University of North Carolina.

A 26-year-old Oak Forest woman has been cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
