According to Chicago Police, the two suspects had been invited to the home in the 4500 block of N. Milwaukee Ave.
While inside, police say the men bound the 43-year-old victim and two women ransacked the apartment.
The victim was beaten and died at the scene.
"This really is such a quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Caity Leeds. "Nothing really goes on here. It's one of the reasons we moved here. So, it's disappointing, but things can happen in every neighborhood. So, hopefully it was an isolated incident, and we can know that we can sleep soundly at night."
Police have not yet determined a motive for the attack.
It's also not clear what was taken from the home or what kind of weapon was used.
