Rally held after local Kankakee artist is slain

May 23, 2012 (KANKAKEE, Ill.)

The march in honor of painter and businessman Robert Bell, and other victims of violence, started out at the Kankakee Courthouse and ended at the site where Bell was found bleeding from the head.

Bell's death has been ruled a homicide. Residents say his death is the latest in a rash of violent incidents. They say they want to take back their city and end the violence.

Kankakee Police Chief Larry Ringy says the incident is still under investigation. No one is in custody.
