Margaret Neely Wilhelm's Shortbread Recipe

Let 1/2 lb butter soften to room temperature. Fork blend with 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar.

Slowly mix in 2 1/4 cups sifted flour with a fork. Mixture will be like pie crust.

Knead the dough before putting in 9"x9"pan, smoothing with hands.

Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes until dough is beginning to brown.

Immediately fork crimp the sides, score, and poke center of each piece with a fork.

Each person makes it different as does each pan.
