Pregnant woman, teen boy shot in Lawndale

The woman is nine months pregnant and is in the hospital with a gunshot wound. Doctors are monitoring her closely because she suffered a bullet graze to her chest. She is at Mt. Sinai.

The shooting happened at 11 p.m. near 16th and South Hamlin. The pregnant 20-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy were sitting in front of a house when a shooter in a white van fired.

The 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm. He is in stable condition at Stroger Hospital. He and the pregnant woman are expected to recover.

Police spotted the van, chased it down and arrested the driver who is now in custody, but there were two other passengers in the van who ran away.
