American Airlines Chicago to Dallas flight makes emergency landing in St. Louis

October 1, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The first officer of Flight 2309 was taken off the plane by ambulance because of chest pains, according to ABC7's Rafer Weigel, who was on the plane. Weigel is headed to Dallas to cover the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys game on Monday night.

"We were told about 30 minutes after takeoff, we have to land in St. Louis," Weigel said. "There was an ambulance and paramedics waiting on the tarmac."

The first officer was taken off the plane in a stretcher and placed in the ambulance. Another crew will be called in to continue the flight.

No passengers were injured.

The same flight was delayed by mechanical issues earlier, Weigel said.
