Daily Herald: Prayer Book Comes Home

A Frenchman who as an 11-year-old in 1944 found an American soldier's prayer book has been working with Palatine's Sister Cities Association to return it to its rightful owner.

The soldier died years ago, but members of the Palatine group, whose Sister City is Fonetenay-le-Comte, France, worked with the Palatine and Arlington Heights libraries' genealogy departments to track down his family in Pittsburgh.

Next month, charter members Carl and Grace Arthur of Palatine's Sister Cities Association will go to France to pick up the prayer book and personally deliver it to the soldier's niece in Pittsburgh.
