Police shoot man in Chatham area

Chicago police shot a man on the city's South Side after they say he pulled out a gun.

According to police, officers reportedly smelled marijuana and found the man standing in an alley in the 8600-block of South Rhodes Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood.

Police say they officers chased him, and he allegedly pulled a gun.

The officers shot the man in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The officers were not hurt.
