6 missing after barges collide in Hong Kong

April 19, 2013 (HONG KONG)

Officials say 11 people were thrown into the water near Beaufort Island Thursday night. Five of the crewmembers were rescued, and two of those crewmembers were injured. The six others are still missing.

Officials said the barges, which are registered to mainland China, collided during law visibility because of heavy fog. One of the barges, which was carrying construction waste, sank instantly. The second barge, which was carrying sand, remained afloat.

Divers have found no signs of life.
