ABC7 was told a relative carried the 3-year-old child to a fire station located across the street.
Fire officials say the child had multiple serious injuries but should survive. The child is in an area hospital in stable condition.
The attack happened in the South Shore neighborhood in the 7300-block of South Kingston.
