Metra announced fully operational service around 3 p.m.

Metra riders were hot and sweaty, waiting for hours while stuck at the 115th and Kensington stop.

A Metra spokesperson said that all inbound and outbound trains on the Electric Line were stopped because of wires down at the Calumet station.

One of the trains apparently hit wires and those wires caught fire. While workers tried to fix the issue, trains were running on one track, which meant long delays. Some people waited for three hours.

"I've been riding Metra for over 30 years. There's nothing much you can do about it, just grin and bear it. It is hot out," said Catherine Roman.

"I can't even count the hours, I am so tired," said Glenetta Shenault. "I'm hot. I'm hot."
