Six Flags Great America may build a new roller coaster in north suburban Gurnee.

A variance proposal from the park passed the village's planning and zoning board Wednesday night.

That proposal now goes to the full village board.

The Chicago Tribune says the ride would be a wooden roller coaster possibly 165 feet tall.

The park hopes to have it up and running by the spring of next year.
