Prosecutors say 57-year old Kathleen Niew of Burr Ridge took more than $2 million from a couple she represented and used the money for her own benefit, instead of buying property for the couple.
Niew is the author of two books and received the Ronald Reagan gold medal in 2006.
She has pleaded not guilty.
