People had another chance to have their voices heard at the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission.
The message was that more jets will bring more noise and inconvenience.
"Everybody talks about sound insulating you home, but if you're outside, where you are most of the time especially during the nice weather, you can't conduct a conversation, you cannot do anything," one area resident said.
The new runway is set to open on October 17.
Supporters of runway expansion say it is vital to the region's economy.
