Kristen Smith appeared in court Friday. She's charged with kidnapping Kayden Powell from Beloit last week.
Kayden was found safe. Smith was arrested in Iowa.
Her attorney says she wants to express concern for her half-sister, and hopes she's alright.
It's not clear if Smith will be extradited to Texas, where she's wanted for fraud.
