CHICAGO (WLS) -- Students at Chicago Public Schools will spend one hour away from their studies Thursday in the name of peace.

The "peace hour" is an initiative to get students to talk about the importance of peace in their neighborhoods.

During the hour, students will sign a peace pledge and brainstorm ways to stay safe this summer.

The pledge was designed by students at Farragut High School on Chicago's West Side.
