Man wanted for attempted Jefferson Park child luring

CHICAGO -- Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a child on Chicago's Northwest Side.

Officials said a man tried to lure a 13-year-old girl in the 5200-block of North Northwest Highway around 5:30 Wednesday night in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.

Police said a 13-year old girl was riding her bike when a man standing outside a white van looked at her and told her "come here."

The girl then told an off-duty police officer who called 911.

Officials said the offender is a white male with a medium brown complexion, about 40 to 50 years old, about 5 feet and 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing sunglasses, a green baseball cap, brown sweater and black pants.
