COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- For the first time this year, the West Nile virus has turned deadly in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said three people in Cook County tested positive earlier this month and they've died from complications with the virus.
Health officials said even though it's fall and the temperatures are getting cooler, people should still take precautions such as wearing insect repellent and staying indoors between dusk and dawn.
