Study: Eating healthy getting more expensive

According to a new study, the price of fruits and vegetables is climbing, while junk food is actually becoming cheaper.

Comparing retail prices at major supermarket chains in Seattle, researchers at the University of Washington found that low-calorie, nutrient-rich foods were far more expensive than sweets and snack foods.

Experts point to these findings as helping to explain why obesity rates are highest among the poor. The study suggests the government shifts policy to encourage people to eat healthier foods.
