Winter hair care

January 7, 2008

First, get to know the texture and density of your hair, the stylist says. One strand of hair can have a light, medium or heavy texture as well as a light, medium or heavy density. This winter, your hair care products should match that texture and density with a variety of the following ingredients: water (moisture), protein, oil and silicone.

Winter Hair Care Blues:

Frizz - Look for products with oil like a smoothing spray to stop those flyaways. But before you spritz, give your hair some protein by using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.

Static – This means that the hair is lacking moisture and protein. Look for products that will give hair the juice it needs. Try Mario Tricoci's MATCH Intensive Mask, which is pure protein to close the cuticle layer of your hair making it strong, shiny and static-free.

Hat Head - The right haircut makes all the difference in preventing denting or kinks once you step out of the cold and remove your hat. Give it a good shake - when hair is well moisturized and healthy, it should bounce right back.
