Amtrak employee strike is looming

Another potential strike could affect Amtrak travelers. About 10,000 Amtrak employees have been working without a contract since 1999. Unless there is a last-minute deal or Congress steps in, workers could walk January 30.

If they do, Union Station in Chicago could close, shutting down service for Metra trains that use that depot.

There has never been a strike in Amtrak's 36-year history.
