CPS students head out on college road trip

Four hundred and fifty sophomores, juniors and seniors boarded buses headed for groups of schools. Some students will visit historically black colleges, others will check out Big Ten schools and some are headed to the Ivy League.

"I'm just hoping that I will find what school I would like to go to- and what kind of school is best for me. And, what I would like to get into when I graduate high school," said Kirsti Gilmore, junior.

"It's quite exciting. It's an opportunity. I definitely can't get her to several colleges in a week. I'm looking that she finds a college that's a good fit for her," said Jacqueline Gilmore, mother.

The college road trip was organized by Chicago Public Schools officials. This is the first year, but they hope it will continue and grow.
