Two shot near elementary school

A 25-year-old man was shot in both thighs and a 29-year-old man was shot in the left thigh about 1 a.m. in the 10300 block of South Sangamon Street, police said.

Fire crews responded to the intersection of 103rd and Peoria streets about 1:39 a.m. for a report of shooting victims. Two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "trauma" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of Garvey Elementary School, 10309 S. Morgan St., according to Calumet Area detectives.

A report from the police First Deputy Superintendent's office said the men were standing on the corner when an unidentified gunman approached and opened fire.

A description of the shooter is not available and nobody is in custody as of 4 a.m.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
