ABC7 Chicago celebrates 30 years of broadcasting "The Puerto Rican Day Parade," Saturday, June 14, from 1-2 p.m. Hosted by ABC7 General Assignment Reporter and Host of "Ñ BEAT," Theresa Gutierrez, "The Puerto Rican Day Parade" aired in HD on ABC7 Chicago.The parade featured salsa dancers and floats including one carrying ABC7 Chicago's Cheryl Burton, Jerry Taft, Jim Rose, Dan Ponce and Charles Thomas who joined in the festivities.

Joseph Acaba, the first Puerto Rican astronaut to go into space, was featured as this year's Honorary Grand Marshal, and was joined by Mayor Richard Daley and other city leaders.

This year's parade theme was "Reaching New Heights," something Acaba says young adults should pay attention to.

"The Puerto Rican Day Parade" was produced by ABC7's Edgar Vargas and highlights a week of Puerto Rican heritage events in the city.
