Chicago River gator is a girl

CHICAGO She was pulled from the river by a reptile expert and is now being cared for by a couple who takes in rescued creatures. They say she is four or five years old and is in good health, with strong teeth.

But she has some injuries from the rescue that will need to be treated before she finds a permanent home.

Wednesday night is the monthly Herpetological Society meeting at the Notebart Nature Museum, and she may make an appearance.
