The Monroe County Courthouse turned 100 years old this week, and county employees baked and decorated more than 20 cakes to help celebrate. Workers in several county departments participated in a contest that featured many cakes shaped like the courthouse.

Circuit Court reporter Brenda Staunch won the decorated cake category with her creation in the shape of the courthouse dome. She used painted dowel rods to make a copper-colored weather vane on top of the dome.
