Sandbags raising concern in flooded counties

Approximately 80,000 sandbags were used in June to hold back the Fox River and Chain O' Lakes as waters rose.

County officials are worried property owners will use the sandbags to fill in low areas, which could produce an uneven flood plain. Other officials are concerned that the rotting sandbags are covered with sewage and bacteria, making them a health risk.

Some towns have the resources to pick up the bags, but others do not.
