Weather cooperates on busy day of air travel

A much smoother situation in the air Sunday evening: the weather cleared up just in time for one of the busiest days of the year at Chicago's O'Hare Airport. This day, Sunday, is projected to be the busiest travel day of the holiday travel season at O'Hare. Last Tuesday was the busiest day at Midway.

About 200,000 travelers passed through O'Hare Sunday, but you would never know it, because things ran smoothly thanks to Mother Nature.

The snow is melted. The ice is gone. The sky is clear. A perfect combination for a well deserved travel day Sunday at Chicago's airports.

"Because of that wind yesterday I was like, 'Ooh, I don't know if my flight's gonna get in, but so far so good," said Erica Woods, traveler.

"Both airports, we are happy to report, there are only minor cancelations (at O'Hare), fewer than two dozen, and no delays. At Midway, no delays or cancelations. So a big improvement over the last few days," said Karen Pride, Chicago Department of Aviation.
