CNR not ready to run trains through 'burbs

March 4, 2009 The Canadian National Railway Company was planning to begin Wednesday running more trains on the Elgin, Joliet And Eastern railroad tracks. But a company spokesperson explained that March 4 simply completes the public notice period.

Canadian National bought the railway for $300 million in January. The company says it is not ready to start diverting trains from its clogged Chicago tracks just yet.

Officials explain they anticipate a three-year changeover during which time they will be slowly moving more and more trains from Chicago to the suburbs.
