Quinn appoints chief of health facilities board

April 17, 2009 (CHICAGO) Dr. Quentin Young said on Friday his mission is to make healthcare more equitable and accessible. He'll chair the board that regulates the building of healthcare facilities.

The board has a troubled past.

Former member Stuart Levine and former fundraiser Tony Rezko are in prison for scheming to use the board to get contributions or kickbacks.

"I'm well aware that it has a very troubled past. And I'll do everything that I'm capable of doing to make sure that its in a service mode, that the interests of the people of Illinois as patients as citizens will always be foremost," said Dr. Quentin Young, Health Facilities Planning Board. Appointee.

Gov. Quinn says naming young is one way of repairing the damage from the past.
