April 24, 2009 --Parents in the Pilsen neighborhood who send their children to Whittier Elementary School are upset over the condition of the school. They protested Friday over what they say are desperately needed infrastructure improvements to the more than 100-year-old facility.
The group says it's been a six-year struggle.
A spokeswoman for Chicago Public Schools says the district works to ensure students have the right learning environment.
She says the parents request will be researched and evaluated.
