Study: Weigh-ins may be good for teens

May 29, 2009 The study in the Journal of Adolescent Health determined that teens who regularly use the bathroom scale may be more likely to use healthy measures to control their weight.

This topic is not without debate and the findings actually counter those from an earlier study. Instead, this study found, those who weighed themselves once a week or more were more likely to report healthy weight control tactics. They included exercising regularly and eating less junk food.

But watch out for obsessive weighing. Reserachers say that may signal a problem with body image and unhealthy weight-loss disorders.
