Food distributor closing 200-worker Ind. warehouse

June 25, 2009 (BLOOMINGTON, Ind.) The North Star Food Service of Indiana facility in Bloomington is expected to close in October.

The business is a unit of Rosemont, Ill.-based U.S. Foodservice Corp.

Company spokesman Kevin Hagan says the closing decision was announced Wednesday to the Bloomington workers, most of whom have warehouse or driver jobs.

Hagan said the company had to cut back operations after it could not reach a new contract agreement with the restaurant chain, which he declined to identify.

Another North Star facility in Indianapolis will remain open.
