August 10, 2009 7:05:11 PM PDT
Jury selection began on Monday in a lawsuit filed by an exonerated death row inmate against three former McHenry County sheriff's detectives.Gary Gauger, 57, claims the officers conspired to falsely prosecute and jail him for his parents' murders at their farm in 1993.

Gauger is seeking at least 50,000 from each detective and the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. He contends the investigators obtained a false confession from him during a long interrogation.

The former detectives denied the claims.

In 2002, Gauger was pardoned by former governor George Ryan after members of the outlaws motorcycle gang claimed responsibility for the murders.
